Can't believe it's been so long since I've updated, I guess things like
Xanga fall by the wayside when you're so busy with...everything. I know
that I cannot possibly do justice to anyone reading at this point in
time, for all of the things that have happened since....January 13th
cannot fit into an entry, maybe I won't even write about what's
happened, I'll just keep you all informed as to the CURRENT things
going on around here.
Been through some REAL shit, seriously. Some things have made me open
my eyes even further, see some things as they really are, you know ?
Maybe I'll even do a REALLY juicy confessional, it has a lot to do with
what's been going on-and it promises to be some hard-hitting shit.

Tomorrow Cory (C) and are are going to a party in Newburyport. WHICH REMINDS ME...
I DID do something awesome last weekend. Cory and I went and saw Dave
Matthews again at the Tweeter Center (Boston) It was fucking amazing
for so many reasons...the illicit substances (oh, and I do mean
illicit) probably had a small part to do with it. Just an all-out great
time.
Wow, this only took about.....7 minutes. To think I haven't had 7
minutes (it'll probably end up being 9) to write an entry in the
last...7 months is poposterous. I promise I'll keep writing...how about
bi-daily ? (is that a word?)

I wrote a post...maybe a month and a half ago about the GENOCIDE in Rwanda in 1994. I was angry then, because I'd just seen a special on PBS, "Ghosts of Rwanda", which documented the extermination of 800,000 Tutsis and moderate Hutus in a period of only 100 days (a rate 3 times higher that than of the Holocaust).
800,000 people over 100 days....only 8,000 innocent victims killed every day.
This was in an age when we had instant satellite communication, the internet had just started it's big kick, and almost every world leader knew about the situation...but every country in the world sat around and watched HUNDREDS of THOUSANDS of people slaughtered.
The ENTIRE International Community had egg on their faces, and rightly so. They had all been told what was going to occur...and not one person raised ONE goddamn finger to help. Bill Clinton told the Rwandan people at the 10th anniversary of the massacre:
"It may seem strange to you here, especially the many of you who lost members of your family, but all over the world there were people like me sitting in offices, day after day after day, who did not fully appreciate the depth and the speed with which you were being engulfed by this unimaginable terror."
Skip forward almost 10 years to the month...there is a MAJOR humanitarian crisis going on in the Darfur region of Sudan. Leaders from BOTH SIDES of the aisle are crying out for the Bush administration to pass a resolution to brand what is going on as genuine GENOCIDE. If, and when they do that, the countries of the free world would have no choice but to lend their assistance, otherwise, they are again turning a deaf ear to the people of an African country already plunged into turmoil. Studies and experts say that even with help leaving right now, more than 300,000 innocent people will die no matter what.
After the HOLOCAUST, all of the worlds' nations vowed that another incident of genocide would not go unheeded, and the actors would face the most severe punishmnent possible. Every country made a very simple...pact..."NEVER AGAIN" would they sit idly by and watch these kinds of atrocities happen. After the genocide in Rwanda, the world once again sat and watched literally the fastest ethnic cleansing in the history of...ever. And again said,
"Never Again".
Never Again...the situation in the Darfur Region is about to boil over...but I'm very encouraged by the bi-partisan effort to label this as genocide, for that's what it is. It is times like these when my points about being affiliated with a certain party being stupid are made valid...because when it comes down to it, we are all humans, and we all deserve a life free from terror and violence...and even the most crooked of politicians from both sides understand a humanitarian disaster about to become far far worse.
If our senators can send us to war after...6 months of mulling over the situation, then they can hopefully send a contingent of soldiers and peacekeepers to protect the lives of hundreds of thousands of helpless, starving civilians in the most desperate conditions imaginable. At the very least, we gain back some more of that trust from the very countries who've turned their backs on us in the past few years.
I only hope it's not too late...for their sake...and for my conscience.
This must be prevented AT ALL COSTS.
